
Mission & Vision
Our mission is to protect and preserve all Diné traditional ceremonies, including the protection and preservation of songs, prayers, processes and sacred sites. We provide educational and literary forums and opportunities for the study, research, teaching, learning, promoting and disseminating all aspects of Diné ceremonies, under the strict guidance of Diné Ceremonial Law. Our vision is to establish, sustain and execute a comprehensive Diné Ceremonial Apprenticeship Program for all interested Diné people; and to connect Diné Hataałii with the People of the Navajo Nation & beyond.
Organizational Structure
The Diné Hataałii Association, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. It was restructured in 2021 to align the organization with the needs of the people of the Navajo Nation.

Committees
Diné Hataałii Association, Inc. connects community members with healers, singers and practitioners of traditional Navajo medicine and ceremony. We review and provide resolutions of support for various initiatives related to: Ceremonial Ethics; Sacred Sites and Ceremonial Objects; Planning and Special Projects. We also provide Licensure and Membership on a case-by-case basis.
Hataałii Ethics Committee
The Hataałii Ethics Committee oversees the ethical practices and responsibilities for medicine people and apprentices. Committee Chair: Avery Denny
Ceremonial Ethics Committee
The Ceremonial Ethics Committee provides guidance on ethics and responsibilities within ceremonial settings for all participants. Committee Chair: Anson Etsitty
Planning & Special Projects Committee
The Planning and Special Projects Committee engages in tasks related to the direction and trajectory of the organization, as well, as the review and guidance of Special Project proposals. Committee Chair: Ernest H. Begay
Sacred Sites & Ceremonial Objects Committee
The Sacred Sites and Ceremonial Objects Committee provides protocols of treatment of geographical locations deemed sacred by Diné, and repatriation of ceremonial objects. Committee Chair: Daniel Johnson
Licensure & Membership Committee
The Licensure & Membership Committee reviews and approves applications for membership and is responsible for Diné Hataałii Association licensing. Committee Chair: Marilyn G. Begay
Membership
To obtain your license from Diné Hataałii Association, Inc., please fill out the application below and send it back to the Board of Directors for review. D.H.A. will contact you to schedule and interview. The licensure fee is $100.00 annually, and is due in January of every year. Payment can be made with a money order, payable to Diné Hataałii Association, Inc., or with a credit/debit card using PayPal.
IMPORTANT: If you had a license that was issued by the former D.H.A. administration, your license will need to be renewed. Prior to 2021, the Diné Hataałii Association was a non-incorporated organization. From the day the D.H.A. was incorporated as a legal entity (May 12, 2021), new licenses were issued and those licenses now determine official membership.
