Statement from the Diné Hataałii Association Regarding Recent Precipitation

The Diné Hataałii Association offers the following perspective on the recent abundance of moisture within the four Sacred Mountains and surrounding regions:

The abundance of rain is not a crisis or a bad omen, but a profound blessing from the rain deities. Oral history indicates that such weather patterns arise periodically to encourage reverence for the natural elements (Light, Air, Water and Earth). Our Hataałii have consistently offered prayers and ceremonial offerings to the natural elements during periods of drought. The events of the past week are a beautiful answer to our songs and prayers.

We encourage those experiencing uncertainty or many thoughts to receive these recent days as a blessing. The rain will replenish our lands, sustain our livestock and plant life, and renew our holistic well-being. As we move forward, let’s carry the positive energy and optimism shared by the Hataałii. May our thoughts and actions continue to bring light and harmony to our lives and the world around us.
